Implantology

Modern implantology is one of the most advanced and dynamically developing branches of dentistry, allowing for permanent and maximally natural restoration of lost teeth. Thanks to new technologies, patients can regain full chewing function, a beautiful smile, and self-confidence even with total edentulism.

What is dental implantation?

Dental implantation is a procedure involving the restoration of a lost tooth by inserting a titanium implant into the jawbone or mandible, which replaces the natural root. After the period of osseointegration, a crown, bridge, or denture is attached.

The most important advantage of this method is the physiological transfer of chewing forces to the bone, which prevents its loss (atrophy).

In contrast to classic prosthodontics, dental implantology does not require grinding down healthy adjacent teeth.

Indications for implantation

  • Single tooth gaps – restoration of one tooth without interfering with adjacent teeth.
  • Multiple gaps – an effective solution for the loss of several adjacent teeth.
  • Total edentulism – the possibility of rebuilding the entire dental arch.
  • Intolerance to removable dentures – e.g., a heightened gag reflex or an allergy to acrylic.
  • Expectation of a permanent solution – for individuals looking for a long-term investment in their health.

Implantation is recognized worldwide as the "gold standard" of tooth restoration because it restores the full biomechanics of the masticatory organ.

What does a dental implant consist of?

A modern implant is a precision construction consisting of several elements:

Implant (titanium screw)

The part inserted into the bone. Made of medical-grade titanium, which is biocompatible and integrates with the bone tissue.

Abutment

An element connecting the implant with the crown. It is responsible for the proper shaping of the gum. It can be made of titanium or zirconium.

Prosthetic crown

The visible part of the tooth. Made individually from ceramics or zirconium.

Additionally, gingival formers and temporary crowns are used to achieve an optimal aesthetic effect.

Methods of dental implantation

Contemporary techniques allow treatment to be carried out even in difficult clinical cases.

Classic two-stage implantation

The most proven and predictable protocol, used for over 30 years.

Stages:

  1. Inserting the implant into the bone (under local anesthesia).
  2. Osseointegration period (up to 6 months).
  3. Abutment mounting.
  4. Attaching the permanent crown.

Advantages:

  • no load on the implant during healing;
  • minimal risk of rejection;
  • possibility of application with limited bone volume;
  • very high long-term predictability.

Immediate implantation (one-stage)

The implant is inserted immediately after tooth extraction – during a single visit.

Advantages:

  • shortening treatment by several months;
  • fewer surgical procedures;
  • preservation of bone and gum volume;
  • better aesthetic effect in the smile zone.

Often, a temporary crown is attached on the same day.

Full arch reconstruction – All-on-4 and All-on-6

A method used in cases of total edentulism.

A permanent denture covering the entire dental arch is fixed on 4 or 6 implants.

Advantages:

  • tooth restoration in 1–3 days;
  • giving up removable dentures;
  • restoration of chewing function at a level of 90–100%;
  • structural stability;
  • lower cost than with many single implants.

Implantation with bone augmentation and sinus lifting

In the event of bone loss, its reconstruction may be necessary.

Bone augmentation – increasing bone volume using biomaterials.

Sinus lifting – a procedure used in the upper jaw, involving lifting the floor of the maxillary sinus and filling the space with bone material.

Thanks to these procedures, implantation is possible even in difficult cases.

Why is CBCT (3D) tomography necessary?

CBCT enables a three-dimensional assessment of:

  • bone quantity and quality;
  • nerve pathways;
  • the position of the maxillary sinuses.

This is the basis for safe and precise implantation planning.

Treatment stages – step by step

  1. Consultation and diagnostics (including CBCT).
  2. Digital procedure planning.
  3. Oral preparation.
  4. Implant insertion (30–60 minutes).
  5. Osseointegration period.
  6. Abutment mounting.
  7. Attaching the permanent crown.
  8. Follow-up visits.

This approach ensures a high success rate for the treatment.

Contraindications for implantation

Absolute:

  • severe blood diseases;
  • active cancer;
  • serious immune disorders;
  • uncontrolled diabetes;
  • serious mental disorders.

Temporary:

  • active oral inflammation;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases.

After appropriate preparation, most patients can safely undergo the procedure.

Prices of dental implantation in Warsaw

The cost of treatment is determined individually and depends on:

  • the number of implants;
  • the chosen implant system;
  • the need for additional procedures;
  • crown material.

An accurate valuation is possible after consultation and diagnostics.

Book a dental implantation appointment

Modern implantology allows for the effective restoration of a smile even in cases of total edentulism. You can sign up for a consultation via the form on our website.

During the visit, the dentist will assess the bone conditions, propose a suitable method, and prepare an individual treatment plan.

Is the procedure painful?

No. Implantation is performed under local anesthesia.

Can an implant be inserted immediately after tooth extraction?

Yes, in many cases, immediate implantation is possible.

How long does an implant last?

With proper hygiene, even 20–25 years, and often for life.

Will I receive a temporary tooth?

Yes, in most cases, a temporary crown is used.

Does the implant replace a natural tooth 100%?

Yes – it restores chewing function and aesthetics.

What are the possible complications?

They are rare but possible with a lack of hygiene or failure to follow the doctor's recommendations.
